8th March is celebrated as International Women’s Day. But in the context of India, Is women really safe? When women leave her home for work, school, college or whatever purpose there is always a fear in her mind that will I return safely to my home? What’s the use of celebrating Women’s day if you do not give her the one safe day she wants.
The safety of women is the topmost priority for us. If she is not safe then it is hard to achieve gender equality
Bhumata Foundation considering the above issue started Mahila Ratra on 7th March from 11.00 PM to 03.00 AM in the year 2018
The Mahila Ratra was started in Latur and Jalgaon
The motive of this programme is that women should feel safe even at night
We are constantly making efforts to make every time of the day a safe day for every girl and woman
To Save Every Girl Child
Kanya Ratna Janmaotsav Abhiyan
When a female child is born in the family, people refuse to welcome the little angel into their homes. Despite the government’s much-hyped policy of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, the negative attitude towards the girl child is deeply rooted in the Indian psyche.
We started the campaign in order to welcome the female child as Lakshmi, Saraswati or Durga into our households
There are some unethical doctors who conduct gender determination of the fetus before birth. We work for filing court cases against these doctors
We also provide judicial and other support to women who are pressured by their family to do such tests
We conduct rally and counselling sessions to educate women not to do such gender determination tests even if pressurized by In-Laws
In future, through this campaign, we are ready to pay hospital charges if a girl child is born
Your Girl Is Your Asset
Hunda Virodhi Abhiyan
The dowry system can put a lot of financial burden on the bride’s family. In some cases, the dowry system leads to crime against women, ranging from emotional abuse and injury to even death.
Under Hunda Virodhi Abhiyan, we spread awareness among youth regarding not to accept and give Dowry. We started this Abhiyan in the year 2016
We also conduct free counselling sessions and vocational education for women to perpetuate gender equality
we understand that not only awareness among youth will work if we want to stop this system we have to aware of the other side of the coin i.e. girl’s parents. And so we also spread awareness among the parents that “Your girl is your asset, don't treat her as your liability”
We took a pledge from women to boycott those boys who ask for Dowry to marry them
To Fight Against Injustice
We receive numerous complaint related to women harassment, Dowry, Cases of Rape Victims, domestic violence, Talak Cases, Divorce Cases. For them, we conduct Samadhan Shibir twice a month at our office.
We help the rape victims to file court cases, give them protection and also help in the judicial matter in any way we can
In the cases of domestic violence and women harassment, we warn the people who do such things. If needed we help the women who suffered from such harassment or violence to file court cases and other judicial matters
For cases of dowry, we help the women and her family to file court cases for dowry against her In-laws and ensure she will get justice
It is said that one divorce can separate the husband and wife but in that their children suffer a lot. In some cases couples go for Divorce just because of their ego issues, in this case, counselling is needed so that they can make a settlement and avoid divorce and live a happy life
Under Samadhan Shibir we also organize self-defence training sessions for girls and women
For Alcohol Free India
Daru Bandi Abhiyan
The question arises, what’s the linkage of gender equality and women empowerment with liquor free India campaign. But yes there is a linkage, there are more men who consume liquor but it’s the women who suffer a lot because of it.
Under this programme, we create one group in villages and the work of this group is to create awareness regarding the side effects of consuming liquor
Conducting de-addiction programmes
This group also helps women suffering from domestic violence
We also approached the Government of India to ban liquor
Under this campaign, we conduct various awareness programmes, informative rallies, and counselling sessions
For Gender Equality Bhumata Foundation
With an aim of making our society an ideal society, we constantly and passionately are working towards various developmental goals right from gender equality to youth empowerment.
